>>53824184That's something I actually wanted to ask anons. I wouldn't mind the base settings, I like them and their random element. The problem is since it's an open server once it launches, having even one person online will progress the time. In the interest of making time-focused mechanics stick to the base game balance because they affect other things like fatigue regeneration, etc I want to ask: do anons want to have water and electricity shut off on a longer time scale? By default it takes 2 weeks-2 months for both water and electricity to shut off. I feel like this works well for electricity which is meant to be a good cushion for early survival but contributes greatly to the challenge once it shuts off. I feel like water can afford to be a little more forgiving for new players. The default setting is 0-60 days for both in the standard settings. If we go by in-game server selection settings, the variables are things like 0-2, 0-3, 0-6, months and stuff like 2-6 months, but I don't want things to stay on too long, but I don't want them to shut too early, the reason being with the default time settings, 1 day=1 hour, so 30 days could go by as fast as barely over 1 IRL day, and a 0-30 means it's possible for it to shut down even on day 1 or day 5, for example.
So what I really want to ask, anons, is how much of a buffer do you want before the randomization starts? Do you think 2 months (60 in game days, or 60 irl hours) is a good buffer, with a shutdown occurring within 1-2 irl days after? Maybe we do a 2 irl day (48 in-game days) buffer so interested anons can all join in regardless of timezones, and see what it's like with electricity and water especially if they're new? Do we want to have more mercy on water, and less on electicity, for newer players, or do we want them both to be at the same randomization level? Please give me your opinions!
