It was a combination of Ame feeling like Gura's sidekick, Gura feeling alienated in her own gen because of her massive growth, and Gura being the kind of person who seems to worry about her public image the more people are paying attention to her. The two of them still do shit in private, which was made pretty clear from that amongus stream forever ago, but they never get too public about it because the shipping makes it less fun for the two of them or it makes them uncomfortable.
I miss the early days of Gura talking about Ame all the time, but they're never coming back and I just kind of have to accept that. What I wouldn't give for just another episode of the fish tank though..
