Because for God-knows what reason, the Youtube playlist has stuff that was made before the game changed gears massively and became much worse. Like, pre-release shit, old demos, things that show that the original game had some promise, or at least a premise that was far, far better than the one that came out.
The true experience is learning how someone can go from a decent idea to absolutely fucking horrifically bad. It's watching a real person self-destruct through their artwork, and how a game that started as a passion project became an artist's vessel to express their own self-loathing, and then how he came to revel in his own self-loathing, putting that self-hatred on a pedestal while pretending that he had moved beyond it.
I've never felt more visceral, yet unintended hatred and pity for a person before that developer.
