>false idolsYou hit the nail in the head. Current day vtubing wouldn't exist without the simping and parasocial aspects that it inherited straight from Japan's problematic "idol" culture. Simp money from lonely people is still the lifeblood of this fleeting industry, and you wouldn't be remiss in considering it immoral and even unchristian.
That's being said, I find much enjoyment in it, and try to partake in it responsibly. Like I do with alcohol or tobacco. But I don't judge those who disdain it. To each their own.
