>>41449640>Coco's influence/impact on Hololive slowly disappearing with every passing year?>Asacoco was a revolutionary idea for the "Box" concept, but the main channel seems to have taken up that roleYou are missing one important thing which is how much the vtuber scene changed from 2019 to 2023.
Here are the three things that changed the most
1) At the start it was the the ULTIMATE TABOO to even admit the vtuber was sharing the same "plane of reality" as the audience.
Even to this day old timer vtubers like Roboco refuse to admit they do live in the same universe as the audience and refer to Tokyo as "virtual Tokyo". See below
>ROBOCO has no understanding of WHERE TOKYO'S FAMOUS LANDMARKS AREhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts9KbGPwctg2) Likewise, vtubers from back in the days had as another utmost taboo to even ACKNOWLEDGE the existence of the other vtubers as part of the same shared universe.
There is a reason to this day "don't bring other vtubers unless I bring first" is one of the rules in most vtuber chats and that was respected.
In 2019 some "crossovers" started to pop up but, for the most part, the audience would be SHOCKED if a vtuber even mentioned the existence of another vtuber, let alone to collab with them
Coco helped to "tear down" that barrier, by making her AsaCoco a "taboo breaking" show by doing two things
1) it was a "vtuber news" stream, by a vtuber. and one that spare no words to mock her fellow virtual beings
2) it dealt with very "real world" issues, like for instance Watame shitty internet connection
3) it featured guest participations by her fellow vtubers, like Luna cursing like a sailor in her english teaching streams
All in all it was disruptive because that was something nobody was doing back then and she lead the way and did push some boundaries very slightly.
In 2023? She herself is thriving doing facecams, nettnig three times more live audience than in her vtuber streams,.
Most of the field couldn't care less anymore about keeping a clear boundary between what a vtuber happens to be in the virtual world and what "the persin inside" is.
Handcams are a staple, some vtubers show up in conventions in their very own meatspace selves, they live in real cities, have real hands, some even real thighs!
It reminds me a lot of two episodes of famous cartoons.
The first being Bart mocking "Denis the Menace" getting in trouble for stomping on Mr. Wilson flower beds
>Bart Meets Dennis the Manace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQaeTZ2YoSoand the second, Kyle (or was some of the other SouthPark blokes?) mocking Bart for cutting the head of the founders statue while he himself killed some bloke mom, ground her into meat and fed it to him into a chilly.
Long story short: Coco accomplishments in 2019 were revolutionary. In 2023? She would be lucky to be acknowledge by kson herself
