Veleck, after breaking up with Carmine, gained a disdain on his presence, and wanted to get rid of him, especially after he got a girlfriend of his own to replace her. With all that said, she could still not act upon it because she is, by her own words, a "doormat".
However, as people picked up more and more on the rrat of her and Caleb being together, which is completely true, she needed a way to distract the masses. Thus, she set up Carmine to take the fall, by hinting that he should play the Harry Potter game.
Now Veleck and her pet bug, Caleb, laugh hysterically in their bedroom chamber, as Carmine, her past foe, was defeated. The perfect birthday gift. What else can a girl ask for?
