>>1419307If you're not a manga/anime fan, start with Duolingo and suppliment it with your own learning. If you're still memorising kana, Duolingo on mobile has an okay flash card system, but you'll definitely need an Anki deck (Anki is a free flashcard program).
After you reach the end of the duolingo JP tree, or before that if you feel it's no longer providing value, start consuming other media in Japanese and find Japanese speaking pen pals. (This can be easily done on leddit)
When you're comfortable enough, change your phone/PC language to Japanese, or play Vidya in Japanese, and stay immersed in the language to retain your knowledge of Japanese.
