2 has a mediocre opening and a better second half. I remember the systems being pretty shit though, I can't recall if the Director's Cut fixed it, it had the issue Fallout does where Intelligence is too important it does it even worse. Also you could get fucked over depending on your party setup as the endgame is very dependent on one certain enemy type with particular vulnerabilities and is resistant to a lot of other stuff.
