I've been watching chuubas since Kizuna, and been in the Western scene before it blew up with HoloMyth... I get dreamy too, and I love idols and vtubers, but I've seen enough to be skeptical as well.
The dreams are fun, but the reality of idols is that it's about guts and hard work, and not everyone is gonna make it. It's a long road to the mountaintop.
I just feel if you want to do well, you have to pay attention and be realistic, and bust your ass. That goes for vtubers as well as their fans, seen both fall by the wayside over the years.
But it's fun, and I've made a lot of friends, so it's all worked out. If you're at least having fun, making connections, and living without regrets, I think that's the best outcome.
