>>20153577The thing about art is that beyond the effort level required, there's also the skill level required. For a skilled artist, things that are low effort could be considered very high effort to less skilled artists.
So, basically I'd just look at the type of asset you're most comfortable with, and try to do something that exploits this skillset.
What you posted is a good idea, because the character is not animated per-frame, but instead smaller 2D assets are animated with a skeleton, resulting in less work once the 2D skeleton is set up.
Maybe that animation technique with a oldschool MapleStory detail level could be both soulful and achievable.
