Man, Sekiro was such a fun game. I get the love for Elden Ring, but there were some things Sekiro did better, even if it was an older, smaller game. The game's difficulty and pacing were really good due to how you couldn't just be overlevelled like in other Souls games and faceroll the bosses with high stats. And since they knew what your Gourd numbers and damage would look like, they could design bosses as battles of attrition where running out of HP restoration was just as serious a concern as getting combo-ed to death throughout the entire game. And there was something very pure and rewarding about the fact that there really was only one way to play the game. You had a sword and the ability to block with it, and you've gotta fight all the bosses 1 v 1. No summons, no elemental weaknesses, no cheesing. Just swordplay at its finest.
