>>42508222Start by reading the first 20 pages of genki, then learn particles (no, wa, ga, nai) , then look up a list of N5 words (literally google Japanese N5 words) and memorize 2 of those every day.
This should take you a year and you'll know around 700 words by the end of it. This will make you able to vaguely understand what JP livers are talking about. Sometimes.
If you then learn the N4 list of words you'll know around 1.3-1.5k and should be able to understand most of what they say.
This will take you 2 years if you learn 2 words every day. Or 1 year if you learn 4.
Some things you can learn that might not be on these lists are simple things like colours or the weather.
