Being a regular lurker in this board made me vaguely aware of their PL back in 2022-23. I might've glanced over their content back then, but didn't give them a chance. Ironically enough, back in 2019, I checked out a bunch of VN's because I wanted to get into the medium, and within that spree, their game happened to be in there. Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing their game. I guess I wasn't interested enough to complete it. But I don't want to complete it now because It'd feel wrong to finish the game just because they became FWMC. I think I'd rather continue watching them with the very limited memories I had of their PL.
I been feeling regret/FOMO over this since they debuted and has only grown stronger since then, but I feel a little less bad when I remember that I did skim over their PL just days before they debuted. During that time, I wasn't used to their voices and had trouble distinguishing who was who, so I thought it was still possible in the beginning of their debut stream that the two weren't the VN girls. Then Mococo's dislikes apppeared, and isekai being one of them, removed my doubt I had of their origin. Seeing Fuwawa's taste in anime was pretty funny and very based. Their goals collage sold me on how much they were invested in this, that they really do want to stay here for the long run, and have a deep interest in idol/JP things. It made me want to join the ride with them, see them grow together in their highs and lows while reaching for their dreams. The pledge of loyalty was a nice cherry to top it all off. I knew the two were very special after watching that debut.
I had some short-lived phases as far back as 2019 with other chuubas. The main one that got me into the idol aspect of this hobby was Gura. I finally got the appeal of her in the summer of 2022 after watching her 3D Birthday. But then she started streaming less and less, until eventually, I became dissappointed. I know vods exists, but watching something live is a big part of the experience when it comes to this hobby. Chatting, membership emotes, getting read once in a blue moon, being part of the stream, etc. It's exciting seeing things happen in realtime, you can keep up with recent events, you can get easily immersed with them and their interactions with others. Watching these fluffy and fuzzy dorks interact with each other and their genmates has been my main source of CGDCT. Even if for a brief insignificant moment, I can interact with them as well and feel like I was a part of their long journey. I can only imagine how this must feel for artists, the big supa droppers, the usual big names, travelers etc., that regularly interact with them. Even then, It's still nice to be a part of this ride with them, as well as with you guys, even tho some of you are pretty toxic and schizophrenic at times.
Thanks to them and you, I've picked up Japanese again. I started shortly after their move to Japan announcement. Some of you gave me resources which I'm still using to this day. Unfortunately, I still need subs and translations to actually understand Japanese, but I don't think I'll drop this pursuit like I did a few years ago. These two dorks have been a huge motivator for me to keep learning no matter what.
Sorry for the blogpost, I've thought about sharing something like this here since they debuted, but thought posting it during their first year anniversary would be a more suitable time to share my memories of their debut.
Anyway, how did you discover them?
