>>64081477Exactly. I felt the same way both mechanics wise and narrative wise I criticized BG3 above for example in regards to the canon too, but that wasn't Larian's fault. They worked with what they had to make a fantastic crpg, though one still not as good narrative wise or villain wise as the first two games and certainly nowhere near Disco Elysium or the king of narratives, Planescape Torment. Regardless its one of the best games to come out in years and as with D2:OS has enough moddability to keep ot going for years on top of the content Larian releases for it for free and for potentially future expansion(s). I could see someone porting in 3.5e/PF mechanics, amd or entire CRPG campaigns into it given enough time, not to mention the various 5e, 3.5e, pathfinder modules or any original campaign ideas they might have. Mechanically you are alreading seeing the porting in of official TT classes and subclasses as well as the creation of new homebrew classes, crafting and transmog systems, rebalancing, AI improvements, level 20 level curves, missing spells, hell there's even a mod that is making wildshaped druids function more like the TT counterpart with all its nuances and features adjusted to make sense for a video game. BG3 is in a great place and will probably be popular even a couple of decades down the line.
