For things to last, you want mechanical hard drives (or magnetic tape if you're hardcore about it) for digital files and vinyl for physical releases.
The thing with CDs over a long enough time is that disc rot is a thing, even when they're just sitting there. And even if you avoid disc rot, the packaging itself can go bad for CDs in a way that vinyl packaging doesn't. Case in point - I once lost a bunch of rare late 80s, early 90s opera because the 'protective' foam inside the cases degraded into this chemical sludge that stuck to the discs and destroyed them.
