I think the heart of the issue is that a lot of people here are deeply invested in Hololive and think poorly of Mori because she was essentially given a choice between supporting Hololive and its fans and defending someone who has nothing to do with Hololive. She choose the latter, and naturally the people who do value Hololive were upset with that.
Her handling of early criticism showed a clear preference to Connor at the expense of the her fans and the people she calls friends, and allowing the contention to get to the point where the entire debacle devolved into a twitter debacle, which she then attempted to garner sympathy for, reflected very poorly on her. Of course her super whales are going to defend her and get right back to throwing money at her and Hololive, but it's impossible to ignore the elephant in the room that is Mori's unprofessionalism. I won't excuse rabid antis, but the idea that the fans are entirely to blame for this whole episode is nonsense, she shouldn't have interacted with her antis in this matter and then gone on a social media meltdown, end of story.
Hopefully she learns from this and reigns in the behavior that lead to this point.
