>>86946289Some context:
The recent bannings only applied to one gameplay variant format (Commander), not the "normal" way to play. Granted, that variant format is VERY popular. Some had previous bannings in other formats but all are still legally playable at least one way, so they didn't become completely useless. Also, one card is rare and the are rest are mythic rare, so there's still some value in them just for their scarcity.
- People have been asking for a Dockside ban for years now, if anyone was surprised by it getting axed that's on them.
- Nadu is similar. People were saying the card was ridiculously broken the day it was PREVIEWED, let alone released. And they were right. It lasted only a about month between its release and its banning in the Modern format, where game publisher outright came out with a whole article about how the card was a massive mistake, and admitted they didn't even playtest it before release. It being part of this recent ban was not a surpise in any capacity.
- personally i never heard any talk about crypt, but it's unmistakably a powerful card, so much that the only format it's allowed in now restricts you to only one copy in your deck.
- gameplay-wise the biggest hit was Jeweled Lotus, because the card was specifically created for, and only correctly functions in, the format it just got banned in. The only way to make use of it it now is to combo it with decades old card with a rules interaction that not everyone is familiar with.
Did the banned cards take a financial hit with the recent bans? Absolutely. Did they plummet to worthlessness? No.
