>>13514860They still can be stellar. Saga Scarlet Grace, while initially being a more budget Vita game, has amazing combat mechanics. Probably the best usage of time line combat. It doesn't devolve into just having initiative over the enemies, but you want to wedge enemies between characters on the time line to perform united attacks. United attacks happen when the time line collapses due to a unit being eliminated in battle, and everyone on the same side that touches on the time line go in for an attack at once on an enemy. Not only that but skill costs for next round are reduced. Skill cost reduction is important because your whole party shares the same skill resource pool so you can potentially get everyone to act or use higher tier skills since their cost is reduced.
That isn't mentioning how big of a role that status effects play, different party formations, or how good counters and interrupts are.
