That's probably why it went to shit, the characters and jokes are just written by corporate suits now. It's the same exact thing with how Matt Groening stopped giving a shit about the Simpsons because he started becoming more invested in Futurama. Creators like to move on and create new things but corporations need to keep pushing those cash cows.
