>>12889294Eh, you should give it a chance. There's not that many males turned into females in Fate, it's just that King Arthur, the most popular Fate character had this happen to her and thus it became a meme.
Explaining it in simple terms, there's a bunch of mages who want to reach the "root" which is in simple terms true magic that can do anything. But they can't get to it unless they have nearly infinite amounts of mana as the root exists in another plane of reality iirc. So to solve that problem, they used summoning rituals to bring powerful historical legends into the future and sacrifice their mana into a container known as the holy grail. When all 7 historical figures known as servants are killed in the battle, the grail is filled up enough with mana and a master (a mage who owned a servant) can make a wish, any wish. The mages want to use the grail to wish to reach the root so they can become the ultimate mage that can do anything.
Since the grail can only grant a wish to one person, the mages instead of just sacrificing the servants decided to instead battle it out and whoever wins is naturally the one fit to use the holy grail's wish as they see fit.
Start with Fate/ Zero if you actually feel like trying it. If nothing else, the animation is phenomenal. Do keep in mind the first episode is an exposition dump of explaining what I just said and how it works, as well as introducing the characters so it's a bit boring, but it picks up really quickly.
A lot of chuubas love Fate. There, now shut up jannies.
