So far, only the former is possible, because it’s already happening (albeit on a smaller scale). As much as I know, any attempt to start a fandom war on Facebook is quashed. That’s because the admins on certain Facebook groups purged any discussion about the tweet that caused drama. Everything is purged, even though the discussion was seemingly made in good faith. The status of said groups as “safe space” for VTuber fandom is preserved.
