That's a parasite that makes prey animals (like mice) braver so that predators (like cats) can more easily hunt them. The secondary host can then spread the parasite through feces without any repercussions to the host. For humans (or sharkgirls), the parasite is so exponentially removed from its intended host that it does nothing. As with any foreign infection, toxoplasmosis can cause complications, but this is exceedingly rare and usually limited to people with weakened immune systems. IIRC, the only symptom of toxoplasmosis in over 99.9% of infected people is that they like cats slightly more than other people.
