It's probably not your problem, but if the /mans/ government houses a disavowed VMS mycologist making bioweapons for them you can assume VMS packs up and leaves, sends religious fanatics to try and assassinate the mycologist or would deploy the same bioweapon in the area he is being held without discretion to attempt to kill him.
Probably not an isssue for you considering you're smart enough to figure out how to make the weapons yourself, but it would make your life easier to at least try to psyop the public into thinking the fungal infections plaguing your enemies are some sort of unrelated disease.
