It was solidified when Ame did a little MS Paint sketching stream and drew us, and there was also that Later Alligator game, which was a mystery game where you played as an alligator detective trying to solve a mystery in a world full of other 'gators. Since then it stuck, so every now and then you'd see us represented as these funky little fellas. It's pretty great.
Teamates are just the collective term for us all, since there are teamates out there who aren't a member, but still love Ame.
