The Northern red zone was more intended as being a hot bed of hostile tribes and stuff rather than the environment itself being an issue (with the mountain providing a buffer).
Something that I read being talked about and which inspired me was that thing about
a large 'cold' crater, to which I wanted to add a really deep and intricate cavern system underneath. That, if anywhere, is where chuubanite concentration on the island would be at its highest. But that feels like something like that would veer off from standard geology. Was thinking either somewhere at the foot of the northern side of the ridge, or more centrally in the hostile area.
