>>93231663Kingdom Hearts begins in Daybreak Town, when all the worlds were united as one, and there was peace. The Master of Masters foresaw a catastrophic Keyblade War that would divide the worlds and plunge them into ruin. To prepare, he entrusted his apprentices with different roles, claiming it was their job to prevent the war—though he secretly knew it was inevitable. His personal apprentice, Luxu, was given a special keyblade with the all-seeing eye (to record events) and a mysterious black box with unknown contents. The Master then mysteriously disappeared, working on a plan to combat the Darkness, an ancient and formless force.
The apprentices, known as the Foretellers, led their own factions, or Unions, and tried to protect the light. However, mistrust and manipulation—partially caused by Darkness itself—led to conflict. Believing that summoning Kingdom Hearts would bring back the Master of Masters to fix everything, the factions clashed in the Keyblade War. The war ended with the destruction of the world as it was known, scattering the survivors to rebuild.
After the war, the survivors formed the Dandelions to preserve hope and avoid repeating history. They worked to escape the influence of Darkness and create a new foundation, which eventually led to the formation of worlds like Scala ad Caelum. However, the Darknesses—powerful, sentient entities born from hearts and the root of all corruption—remained a threat.
One hero sacrifices themselves by absorbing all the Darknesses into their body, trapping themselves in a purgatory where neither side can win. When they finally die, they are reincarnated as Xehanort on Destiny Island. Xehanort, raised by a Keyblade Master and befriending another wielder, Eraqus, discovers worlds ravaged by the lingering effects of the Keyblade War. The devastation leaves him disillusioned, and he concludes that the only way to fix everything is to spark another war to summon Kingdom Hearts and bring back the Master of Masters
Xehanort devises a plan spanning time itself. Casting aside his physical body, he uses his heart to travel through time, contacting different versions of himself—his Heartless, Nobody, younger self, and others—and directing them to gather at a specific place and time. Together, they form Organization XIII, whose goal is to unite 13 hearts of Darkness with 7 Princesses of Light to summon Kingdom Hearts.
Sora, a Keyblade wielder from Destiny Island, becomes the unexpected obstacle in Xehanort’s plan. Unlike Xehanort, who manipulates hearts to achieve his goals, Sora embodies the power of connections and friendship. These bonds give Sora strength, allowing him to rescue the Princesses of Light and gather his own 7 Guardians of Light to oppose Xehanort’s 13 Darknesses.
At its core, Kingdom Hearts is a story about the eternal struggle between Light and Darkness, not just as forces, but as reflections of human hearts. While Darkness stems from fear, greed, and isolation, Light represents hope, love, and connection. Sora’s journey emphasizes that the strength of the heart, forged through connections with others, is the key to overcoming even the deepest darkness.
