>a singer is only as good as their repertoire
RIM's originals are predominantly produced by mao sasagawa and her singing on most of his songs is purposely languid, like the vocals on shoegaze songs. you'd have to be a special kind of retarded to expect opera singing to improve new romancer
in the world of classical music, the repertoire is extremely limited in practice (how many composers can you name? how many do you think exist?) since the whole thing is so unprofitable. there's a million recordings of the same pieces and since classical is pretty much a solved science, the only revolution over the years has been the disappearance of hiss on recordings and the standardization of everything
>a singer is only as good as their singing
plenty of people discover chopin and go "wow that's awesome", then stumble into liszt and go "wow that's awesomer." they think piano playing is hardcore button pressing, basically osu!
if that's you, that's fine, seek virtuosity, but let me tell you, that really isn't everything. if you're tempted to break open a music theory book to expand your vocabulary and better describe what you appreciate about your favorite singer's voice, that's great, but the novelty fades. eventually you'll realize audio engineering is a thing, later you'll wonder about the circustamces behind a recording (ask any member of an orchestra about the comings and goings of their job, it's a shitshow)
sure, there's n different covers of the same song, but they're not equivalent, not if you get granular enough, and it's completely arbitrary what "granular enough" means
ultimately, it comes down to personal choice. i prefer informed judgement, of course, but i also have fond memories of KOKO playing minecraft, and that improves all her songs
>a singer is only as good as your appreciation of them
you can only have control over your standards, not their (the singers) performance. don't blame them when your standards change, and don't blame me when no one matches your standards
be careful to think you're finally out of plato's cave! it's turtles all the way down
goodnight
