Speaking of Sora
>what do you mean nobody is speaking of Sorawell, anyway, here is the cutest interview from her all the way back in May 2020
https://vtubereview.wordpress.com/2020/05/17/tokino-sora-chats-about-fans-fears-and-her-career-thus-far/Question
>If we’re talking about your streams, we’re also talking about your stuffed bear “Ankimo” and “Yuujin-A” who came up earlier.Sora
>“Ankimo” is a stuffed bear I’ve loved since I was little, I used to use him as a pillow.>I thought he was a girl and would call him “Teddy-chan.” >I was surprised when we started doing streams together and he was a boy (laughs).>“Ankimo” is a name the Sora-tomo voted on.>I happened to say, “I’m really bad at studying things that need to be memorized [anki mono],” I guess they heard anki mono as ankimo [monkfish liver].>So they said, “alright, how about Ankimo,” and I was like, “Ankimo!?” (laughs).>When they voted on a bunch of different candidates for names during a stream, “Ankimo” was the overwhelming majority.>The truth is, at first I was like, “That name isn’t cute,” but I grew attached to it.>Now it’s Ankimo or nothing.>My best friend A-chan, she’s always been with me, I feel like we’re partners.Question
>What kind of people (?) are they to you?Sora
>Ankimo first appeared on my streams during the Halloween stream in 2017.>He got his name in November.>The month after I started streaming, Ankimo was already there with me, but besides what I already mentioned with A-chan, in the beginning she’d only show up from behind on streams, though when she was formless she’d play horror games with me, and partway through she’d appear as “A-mame,” the caricature I drew of her face.>More recently, she’s gotten a human body and been appearing on my streams.>In my streams, the three of us talk… ah, Ankimo doesn’t talk, but the three of us being together feels natural to me, extremely so.>Even now, when I’m doing a special stream, A-chan, Ankimo and I do it together.>These are the most fun, and feel like home.>In that way you could say I need them around, they’re indispensable to me.The whole interview is golden and a time capsule on a time Hololive was much smaller
Question
>What would become your first livestream was streamed on September 7th, 2017, on Nico Nico Douga. We’ve heard there were 13 viewers. Please tell us how you felt then.Sora
>I hadn’t ever streamed at that point, and everything was me fumbling around.>I also didn’t know what kind of mic I should be using.>People back then didn’t even really know what VTubers themselves were.>I was also worried—could I get people to understand me? But even under those kinds of conditions, I was full of optimism and excitement, thinking “I wonder how it’s gonna feel?” and “I hope I can keep growing little by little after this.”>But I’m not the kind of person who’s good in front of others, so I was really nervous, awkward, and my voice was pretty shaky.>I feel really embarrassed when I watch it now.Question
>Your subscriber count is almost 270,000. The number of Sora-tomo keeps increasing.Sora
>These days, I can’t help but have fun when I’m streaming.>The tension I felt at the beginning about my number of subscribers increasing has gone away.>Whether it increases or decreases, everyone who comes to watch me is a Sora-tomo.>But, with the number of people watching me increasing, I now feel a sense of responsibility.>I feel like I can’t put out something mediocre.>For example, even though I’m doing the same song performances, I wanna show people that I’ve progressed a little.>It’s because I’ve got all sorts of people watching me that I wanna put something good out.Truly fearful of numbers even back then
