You can look forward to them while recognizing their flaws, but I wonder if this is how an abussed partner. Not wanting to end the relationship, not exactly holding out hope for change but losing alot of the excitement and just kinda going through the motions and holding on for the time where she shines but it mostly doesn't happen and remembering better times and otherwise comforting yourself. Being privately pessimistic but pushing back against true antis because they dont know shit but knowing some of their shti rings true and fearing that its all true but just wanting to hang in there even if you're mostly checked out.
