You embarrass yourself, fall on your face, want to die then slowly improve and get used to the pain and fear until it starts to go away. You're worried because you expect it to go terribly but once things start to actually work out you'll stop flinching from social situations as much because you learn it's not guaranteed failure and even when you do fuck up it's not the end of the world.
