It isn't even Niji only issue, just look at Mori from Holo who defies all anime tropes, idol roots and cgdt. And yet, despite all of that, she's still insanely popular, with her making a song for the latest One Piece volume. Niji doesn't want and doesn't need 20 of Pomus and 20 of Rosemis, what they want and need are people who will bring in broader audiences of any appeal imaginable. If anything, the full branch of people doing the same shit not only would strip the original livers from everything special they had, but would also kill any growth and engagement in it. When everybody is "special", no one is truly special.
