Why do you want out of the code monkey game? Have you lost your zest for programming or is it you're just sick of how the place you're currently at does it? If it's the latter, it's not too hard to get another CS job from a CS job - it's an incredibly incestuous industry so provided you networked at least a little you can probably shift to a new place.
If it's the former and you're burnt out on programming then shit, I guess you need to find something else that gives you the drive/happiness and pursue that. Which is terrible advice, I admit, but that's all I got.
