Kiki, Santa Muerta is pronounced Santa Moo-er-ta, with a rolled R. It's literally Saint Death and it's the local Aztec/Mayan death cult repackaged for Catholicism. It sounds like a rare thing but you can literally buy shrines for it in most grocery stores there, or even here in the USA in areas with a high Hispanic population. The cartels in particular take it deadly (heh) seriously and make offerings.
The Vatican has officially condemned the practice but it's one of the most widely practiced in the area.
