some people just lose motor functions easily from booze and where man would just get robbed, a woman would be raped, so some just don't ever
I also knew three different chicks that had alcohol allergy. they drink any booze of any kind, they get all fucking red, snotty and tearing up, never heard of male having this condition
In some cultures it is easier to avoid peer pressure to ever develop your own taste for alcohol. In most of Europe it's unavoidable
In US - not so much.
you typically start drinking with your pals as a teen and at first you probably only have access to terribly cheap nasty stuff, but you still do it for buzz and company
then you get more resources to find your own way around what booze do you like
it's like getting a culinary taste
if you never eat - it's hard to get it
