When will the vtubing community realize that the inherent bias against male streamers cripples this entire hobby from actually doing anything beyond the bare minimum when it comes to creative endeavors? You can lie and cope all you want that men are "sex pests" or pretend that behind every successful female vtuber isn't a team of (often unpaid) male labor, but that still doesn't account for males having more engaging content that is unfairly maligned and lacking an audience to justify itself. The most common response when this is brought up is "Erm, sis. Why don't you watch da boyz" but this is itself cope, because everyone knows that vtubing is a nepotistic matriarchy and not a patriarchal meritocracy, as it ought to be. If it were, and creative male vtubers who advance the medium instead of acting like different costumes and 3D tracking aren't just bland formalities expected of everyone now, then maybe things would change. The sheer vitriol and disrespect thrown towards male vtubers and the analytic reality of their unpopularity means that there is *literally* no point in even the most creative, talented, funny and entertaining guy from pursuing this hobby beyond simple streams if he'll invariably hit a wall that is constantly shrinking and already way more saturated than the space for the opposite gender. No one has any solution to this systematic misandry, and if we're being honest it's kind of fucked up that any male vtuber who gets a taste of 4view or even 3view status inevitably goes back down a few weeks later because the people just don't seem to care long-term. Is it just human nature to simp, and then retroactively justify it as "investment" in an idol or e-celeb? Why is this afforded to everyone on the Internet with a modicum of a following EXCEPT men who use moving anime avatars? I've never gotten a clear answer, and to be perfectly real with you I think the stagnation of vtubing as a whole will only continue forever until people unanimously arrive at the consensus that they fucked up by placing pussy on a pedestal even in the digital world.
