As a millennial I've noticed zoomer style of humor is so divorced from reality. Maybe because they grew up in a pop culture that pandered to millennials and boomers with constant reboots of 80's and 90's media and half the internet is full of references and memes from the 00's that they're too young to understand. They developed this totally ironic sense of humor based on absurdity and repetition after growing up being expected to laugh along with their older siblings and parents to jokes that they never fully understood. Then entering the internet at a time when it was already owned by social media companies and the free flow of memes was completely monopolized onto 3 websites made it impossible to "lurk moar" and learn to have a real sense of humor that wasn't just scrolling through content farm facebook groups and subreddits for the same repetitive minimalist garbage that can be pumped out in 30 seconds by some 60 year old bulgarian meme farmer putting his kids through college from the ad revenue.
You should really give NijiEN a more fair chance though, they're just honest about their sense of humor and don't hide when they get annoyed by fans flanderizing vtubers with spammy forced memes.
It's very refreshing even if they have bad taste in comedy at least they aren't playing along with something they don't enjoy like Hololive:
