Happily Ever After really is a perfect cap on Sinderella, and 2022's Year of Mori in general I think. I think choosing end of a life to give this kind of remix was a pretty intentional choice, turning the tragic and wistful song into something upbeat. I think the lyrics can be recontextualized from Mori asking herself the question, "How did we get here?" from her time before holo to where she was at the time of the original song's release, to asking that same question from the beginning of 2022 to the end, because it was a hugely transformative period, all in all. This time, she's much more sure of herself and where she wants to go next and she's reaping the rewards from her decisions rather than being at the precipice of another life-altering choice. Mori's taken full responsibility for some things that might have made 2022 hard for some people, but it was also a year filled with extremely high heights for her. Things might not ever be the same as they were--in a lot of good ways, and maybe some bad, but she wants to share that happiness with everyone who stuck with her through everything. The original end of a life still ends on a hopeful note, and that same sentiment is echoed as what she wants to take into the new year.
>I'll keep waiting for you
We're the happily ever after--hololive, and us. Like an idyllic fairy tale ending to the princess haunted by sin. Mori is optimistic for 2023 and so am I.
