In my opinion, gachikoi is nothing but a way for the big suits of idol industry to find whales within their crowd and exploit them of as much money as possible. It's just a manipulating the lonely victims of Japanese modern society.
But of course it doesn't mean the idols who claim they want "gachikois" are themselves always exploitative, rather they just bought into the big suits' sugarcoating of their business strategy, convinced that gachikois are something cutesy, pure and a measure of success as an idol. So it's just better to have idols who doesn't play into it.
