In case of the clips alone, I only pick the best ones any more, be it just some hilarious or touching individual event, or a clear beginning / continuation of some bigger "arc" (ie. the building of Pekoland stuff).
After that, I try to judge how much visual quality and thus storage space specific video would deserve; you can do a lot by merely switching between MP4/h264 and MKV/VP9 file formats alone.
Quite often I also do make a choice between 1080p60fps / 720p60fps / 720p30fps modes as well, again depending on the available options and the content at hand. Some chill chat streams don't really need HQ-high-fps version to be saved necessarily.
