the idea has always been around but it's especially worse with vtubers since some of the biggest ones are corporate in nature and are using brand loyalty tactics so people like to throw the word to sound smart even though being a live entertainer is going to attract those types of people by the nature of having some level of interaction (ie what the PDP brofist was doing sorta), unless you were completely detached from the audience ala only doing skits or pre-recorded content (so not live)
