If any new writers feel intimidated by some kind of hypothetical skill benchmark, please don't be. Our Cures isn't that amazing of a piece to begin with, and me writing it was nothing more than a fluke after several other fics from the thread had paved the way for it. I've also written plenty of absolute shitters -- the fact that I had to rewrite the entirety of Holocalypse should tell you enough.
Keep in mind that back when I first started writing there were fics I felt I could never reach the level of. I spent most of my time craning my neck to look up at the likes of Holofantasy, Cover High, Kintsugi and First Summer Memories. It was daunting, sure, but I used the gap in quality as motivation to improve my own writing. Even now I'm not satisfied with how my prose is turning out and I'm worried I've hit a (low-hanging) ceiling, so the battle is never really over.
We're all going to make it, /wg/. I'm certainly not going anywhere until all my ideas have been shat out onto paper.
