Know the characters, the lore, the background, etc.
A girl that gets into you for cosplay is always a huge fan of it and will want to sperg about it to you for hours if she's autistic (like my fiance) and being able to understand everything and return what she said with your own inputs is huge bonus points.
(You) probably wouldn't want to be with a girl that's only trying to do it to impress you so the reverse is true also.
Either way, I'm rooting for you for when you get to it eventually!
