I think the best way to go about it, with everything in mind, is a fort that knows of Sunwalkers one day has a group of them show up at the door step. Perhaps they haven't actually spoken with Sunwalkers, due to their inherent aversion to other people, which feeds into the sudden pressure of a whole horde of them appearing in front of the fort. With them is a small number of hooded individuals, which the Sunwalkers explain is the Tunnelhogs. Then the Tunnelhogs unveil themselves and describe the situation of /rose/. Something like that.

I'll say that the difference in physical strength is kind of funny, since Rosebutas are normally much more powerful than the average human. Would be funny if a Rosebuta went to politely shake hands and accidentally broke some poor Quilldren's fingers.
