They are employees at a company. This is their job. If they don't do their job, they should be fired and replaced with someone who will do that job. Simple as.
There is no "entitlement". Is your boss "entitled" if they expect you to show up to work? If this were just a hobby, the argument would hold merit. But this is a job, plain and simple.
