Your "why" explaination is kinda off. Despite those thing you classify as "bad", she still achieved what she wanted. You can put the "idolpill" wherever you want, it's just an excuse for you to project. If you care about the "idolpill" it's your problem. She can be an idol, and wants to be her kind of idol. But i don't really recall or find anything about her calling herself an Idol in those times.
So maybe it's not something so bad.
