The first ever hlgg arc was the pre-myth arc. This was when the thread was still merged with hlg on /jp/, long before our forced exodus to this new board.
At the time, post activity was low and threads were peaceful. Posting was almost exclusively about holoJP -- and really whoever was live at the time.
The thread was divided into two factions, those who could understand the streams without subtitles/translations (e.g., the purists) and those who needed to watch translated clips (clip chimps/EOPs).

>Major events: the founding of hlgg and /vt/
Then came the black ships. The war trumpets. Hololive English - MYTH.
The first ever EN generation and the founding of the first branch led to a great stirring of excitement, worry, and tribalism in hlg.
When the news of EN dropped, hlg was immediately divided into two factions--those who hated the English speaking vtubers as they were "western whores" verse the innocent JP idols, fears of homobegging/anti unicorn behaviour etc, and the faction that were all in on EN for finally being a comprehensible product without clips and translation.
In a sense, this EN vs JP split in hlg was the new form of the EOP vs JOP conflict.
Debuts were met with skepticism. Kiara immediately became the most hated Myth while Ame's debut was similarly lamblasted for being terrible.
Everything changed, however, with Ame's first stream - Superliminal. There, she immediately charmed the viewers to a staggering number of viewers, and instantly became hlggs favourite.
Meanwhile, Calliope Mori was a favourite from the very start with people praising her great debut. However, she would quickly lose that good faith when she would interact with holostars on twitter and with the TT podcast later.
Meanwhile, Gura continued to soar the popularity ranks in the mainstream, and hlgg loved her. Her second karaoke was one for the ages, with 110k viewers tuning in and the thread losing their mind at the incredible music performances.
Things would fluctuate and Kiara would become more liked over time, but this would not be for another several months. Amelia continued to hold her position as the most liked EN with many praising her GFE/unicorn behavior/creative streams/long and regular stream schedules.
June, 2021. The big exodus occurred. /jp/ denizens were sick of the vtubing threads on their board and called for a new vtubing boar d- vt was formed. (hlgg was formed a while before this on /jp/).
>Generation 2
>The Council Arc
>Date: August 23, 2021-July 2022
>Most popular vtuber: Amelia Watson
>Major events: Irys debut, Council debut, Sana graduation, continued drama
Ame continued to have a chokehold on hlgg as we turned the year from 2021 to 2022.
Her movie watchalongs dominated all discussion, with the 'gosling' meme becoming a popular new ritualpost to accompany the GFE she induced in teamates, much like a joi.
Meanwhile, the popularity of 'Gurame' aka the Gura x Ame ship continued to soar to new heights. The 'THEY ARE' ritualpost would be mentioned whenever they would do as much as mention the other. Schizos known as Gurameschizos began to post massive timestamp collections of these moments, with one schizo compiling a 120+ page document that scoured every timestamp of every vod where Ame/Gura would mention or interact with the other, solo stream or collab stream.
Kiara's fame continued to rise. She was soon carving out a niche of very dedicated fans with her regular stream times, long streaming hours, great GFE and community interaction with marathon long SC readings.
Mori continued to flounder, though she had mostly moved on from homos and TT. She still had moments of drama such as her replying to the cuckbeat fanart on twitter.
Gura remained as popular as ever, chumbuddies were almost as numerous as teamates.
Around the same time, drama ensued with the EN managers - ENMA, JENMA, and others.
Then, the rumblings of a new talent had finally given rise to the debut of IRyS--project hope. The first EN vsinger.
This debut was met with immediate controversy. People were unsure of her horrible design, skin shading, how she'd fit in with the rest of Myth, and what a vsinger even was. The Gura vs Irys debates raged, but many complimented her voice and some of her titular songs like HERE COMES HOPE.
As IRyS broke many subscriber records in hololive, hlgg denizens were given little reprise as a new generation was teased. The infamous >a fucking box would turn out to be the Council generation.
The council debuts were met with unparalleled hype, thanks to the trailblazing efforts of their myth senpais. Post activity reached never before seen levels.
Immediately after debuts, two Council members shone among the rest. Fauna and Kronii. (to be continued)
