More like, they actually do care, a lot. But they don't want people to talk about them because they judge that the audience is not mature enough to handle the subject without a bunch of people tarding out. The girls also can't discuss numbers about themselves without coming across as either bragging/punching down or being sour grapes so it does the company zero benefit to discuss openly. But that doesn't mean they are not scrutinized. You can say in essence they were right that fans can't handle this subject very well (citation: us), but, it is also dangerous to just delude each other that things are always great and peachy and there's nothing to he concerned about. The last year of EN wasn't so peachy and it's not insane schizo behavior to just admit it.
This shit with the culls and Neal trying to get all the channels to kneel, I dunno how real that is because I don't buy it that half of all viewers fled just because of the age verification (as some shitter phase girl claims, although I don't know how that translates to Holo and they likely are just not gonna comment on this).
