>>108779045>>108779192Eh, it depends. FF8 was my first FF, so I'm pretty biased towards it and oftentimes willing to forgive it for its more egregious sins.
Gameplay is much simpler, i.e., no gamebreaking exploits and power pretty much comes only from levelling (besides some stat optimization via equipment when levelling).
Story is definitely an improvement though, back to FF's more fantastical roots, though the Final Boss' sudden appearance is even less earned than FF4's Zeromus.
Characters are great besides Amarant. Didn't like how some characters get off scot-free (and not even in the Edea sense where she was mind-controlled by Ultimecia). Still, just Vivi alone beats most of FF8's cast.
