That stream directly resulted in them taking more financial/stock hits, literally lost millions in profit, and the stream was probably done without them being entirely honest to the JP branch.
There's also been rumors that they became shady with finances as well, so it's very possible Elira might end up being the fall-girl and scapegoat for all of what happened. Going off how JP likes to deal with things, it would be a lot easier for them to put all the blame on her, considering she's actually in Japan now.
Crazy shit, never could've guessed that Millie would become the Alpha again, like back when they were all indies.

No she does it in collabs and on twitter, she's very sexually promiscuous with the males. Maybe her chat's ok with it, but think about what it's doing to the male fanbase in general. It no longer feels like a group of friends having fun together, it feels more like a sexual roleplay server. It damages the whole dynamic.
The thing making me the most angry was even girls like Pomu started teasing male ships because Ethyria was doing so well with it. That got Pomu into a massive load of trouble down the line, even today you can't post a thread about one of the greatest vtubers of all time because everyone spams "Luca Luca Luca". Ethyria are the ones who turned the branch into this and made it unwatchable for the male fanbase. They also created a ton of drama too, all 3 of them. Enna kept insulting people and saying shocking things, Millie openly scolding Selen and openly talking about the black company rumors. At one point I remember Enna just started screaming at Elira on twitter, is the drama enough already? goddammit.

There is no guarantee that ANY solution, drastic or otherwise, would succeed in getting NijiEN back in good graces and possible to expand again.

I think that other anon is right on the money: Riku's gonna cut and run soon. He's not the type to actually fix issues, he'll just set himself up to exit with as much money as he can, then bail.

Anycolor basically treated the EN branch like their other foreign branches, like Korea, India, Taiwan, Shanghai and Indonesia.
All of those branches could be (and were) cut off once they realized it was unprofitable, with zero damage to the home branch.
EN though, it affected their home stocks and caused their actual fucking contract to be leaked, which didn't even happen when the IDs got crapped on, and caused their actual stocks to become margin tradeable (and barely got 200 points off it, meaning heavy shorting incoming).
I wonder if they thought the home branch would be invulnerable from any and all yabs.

Personally, I think it is for the best to merge the branch, and let everyone that want to quit, just quit. The image of NijiEN is damaged forever and there will always be dramafags and grifters waiting for the most little inconvenient or negative news about NijiEN.

On that note, if anyone does get terminated/"graduated" over this mess, you can bet their fans are going to blame Doki for it. It can't be that the grown adult Liver that did something wrong and is being punished for it. This is a big issue. When you've already been implementing mass cost-cutting measures, to the extent of routinely skirting the edge of labour laws, there's really nowhere you can cut costs to correct a downward trend. When your staff is already running on overqualified skeleton crews full of giving you unpaid overtime for minimum wage you don't really have the option to downsize without impacting operations, which means that the next step is to eliminate operations that aren't cost-effective, cut the payroll and reorient towards your more efficient projects.
But once again this is Nijisanji. They have barely any projects to cut. The only thing really on the chopping block is the EN branch and I don't know if culling a 4th international expansion attempt in half a decade is the kind of reputational damage you can recover from when your stock value is growth-based and your domestic market is stagnant.

It's a complicated situation to be in. The long-term solutions (ie reinvesting into international growth to repair reputational damage and restore brand faith) will look bad short-term, but there are very limited short-term options that don't sabotage the long term in very obvious ways.

I don't think anybody with sense is expecting this to actually fold Nijisanji entirely. But it's not an overstatement to say that the way the situation develops will have important consequences for the EN branch and the worst case scenario of EN folding as they cut off the hand to save the body is absolutely on the table.

Riku apologizing to the investors was him admitting that he royally fucked up, so he can't spin this drama anymore into a win or a minor setback. His only option is promising that things will get better and hope that the investors will buy it. Keep in mind that EN has been on decline for a long time already, so it will be a hard sell.
