also the new seasons are always a fresh reset for everyone and its a bit interesting and hype to take a part of, or you can sit one out if you dont fancy or dont have time and there's always the next one. it's a better content cycle than most games since old MMOs create the feeling that it's too late to start and missing out on the launch of a new live service game often feels like you missed the train. PoE seasons come and go often enough that it's doable to allot yourself time to partake in it without the truly infinite timesinks that are part of every live service game by design.
>Super Chinese tier cash shopit's skins. in my mind your description is something befitting of something that churns out new characters that you need to buy (or even worse roll for) to keep competitive edge. the skins absolutely take a steaming dump on the general art direction of the past with their over-the-top gaudiness and particle effects. i feel like you're naive if you think PoE cash shop is bad. it's actually one of the more fair free to play business models and even loot tabs aren't that controversial even if it's easy to argue that paywalling crucial QoL like that is shitty but i dunno if that's a case you'd make.
>RMT and stuff I suppose is out of thier controlnow here's something you could have taken a jab at since there are so many fucking chinese bot farms that impact the economy at DE FACTO GGG's approval since they don't seriously intervene with it despite it being against terms of service. there's even some conspiracy theories that there is racketeering going on and GGG is benefitting monetarily from it.
either way, none of that is hardly touching the game itself, it's all business stuff.
>>101372945>got boringthe average gameplay and spell rotations you do aren't that much more complicated than competitor games but the depth of character minmaxing is second to none. in my deepest PoE trenches i'd just constantly think about the numbers and formulas and it was some of the most satisfying and complicated character building and problem solving in games i've had. you end up being able to whip up optimized builds, experimental builds, fun builds, gimmick builds, all kinds of builds on a whim. the planning was never a dull moment for me and that was always the highlight for me. and the basic gameplay is servicable but not the most fun part.
